How are errors generated?
In the uninstallation process errors might occur as the program you are trying to uninstall is still running, is saving files folders on the hard drive and can't be completlly removed.
Can errors be fixed manually?
Sure, errors can be fixed manually it only takes a fair amount of technical skills to distinguish between the information that needs to be removed and the one that is needed by other programs. If you are interested in doing so yourself please consult our how ho guide.
What is a phantom registry key?
A phantom registry key is invalid information left befind:
- by uninstalled programs,
- by programs that are not completly uninstalled,
- deleted programs
Can I prevent errors?
To a certain extent errors can be prevented. By thurly uninstalling programs, by letting Uninstall Plus scan for leftovers every time you unsinstall a program, by deleting the findings.
Some of the files/folders were partialy removed what do I do?
Uninstall Plus partialy removes only files and/or folders if these are in use. You should manualy remove any remainings to prevent errors.
How can I fix my invalid uninstall registry?
Uninstall Plus incorporates a function that allows you to edit registry information. If you found an application that has an invalid uninstall information you can edit the registry by entering the uninstall path in the "UninstallString" key.
(we recommend to use this option carefuly and only if you know what you are doing and have made proper backups befor attempting this)
What can a broken registry key cause?
Broken registry can slow down your computer, can cause your computer to "act strange", can "hang" the operating system by overloading it, and even crash your computer.
What is a startup manager?
Startup managers allow a better control of the starting programs that can't normally be controlled by users. Having many programs that start at boot time (when the computer is turned on), makes the boot time longer. These boot starting programs run in the background of your computer slowing it down.
Why backup registry?
Registry errors can slow down your computer, can generate "strange" errors, and even crash your computer. Backing up registry keys you ensure that you have a clean copy at all times, allowing you to restore and overwrite registry errors that might appear.
